Commute Warrior allows users to track their daily second-by-secondtravel activity. The data collected by Commute Warrior will be usedby Georgia Tech researchers to study travel behavior and estimatetravel times across corridors. Travel monitoring is automatic,recording second-by-second position and satellite details withoutany interaction on the part of the participant. Commute Warriormonitors walking, bicycling, transit, and personal vehicle trips.FEATURES AND BENEFITS Commute Warrior provides flexibility withregard to data transmission. Commute Warrior can be set to trackand log travel data for later upload over WiFi or transmit data inreal time using the wireless data plan. Commute Warrior allows theuser to set a battery level that, when reached, automaticallydiscontinues the operation of the CW App. This feature helps ensureuser battery levels remain above desired levels. Commute Warriorusers can review their travel patterns for any monitored day. Thetravel activity are displayed using an open source mapping system(OpenStreetMaps) for the users to review. Users are requested tocomplete travel diary surveys for targeted days. The survey datawill be used in studying travel behavior. PRIVACY Georgia Techresearchers are committed to protecting the privacy of theparticipants. Commute Warrior data can be accessed only by theparticipants and is stored in a secure data server. All researchpersonal have been trained and certified in handling HumanSubjects. All research protocols have been reviewed and approved bythe Institutional Review Board at Georgia Tech. BATTERY USE Thebattery usage statistics shows that in a typical day the App usesaround 25% of the battery and it varies depending on the user.However, in tests the App’s impact on battery drain time was foundto be marginal. The phone’s battery will last through the work dayas long as it is charged every night. KNOWN INCOMPATIBILITY SamsungGalaxy Note II does not work well with the App due to its sensorsbeing disabled in sleep mode.
